LAB MEMBERS

Prof. Dr. Atalay Barkana

Prof. Atalay Barkana received BSc degree from Robert College of Istanbul in 1969, MSc and PhD degrees from University of Virginia in 1971 and 1974, respectively, all in Electrical Engineering. He was retired in 2014 from Anadolu University. He continues to be with the Eskisehir Technical University. His research interests include pattern recognition, computer vision, and optimal control.

Prof. Dr. Semih Ergin

Prof. Semih Ergin received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Eskisehir, Turkey, in 2002, 2004, and 2009, respectively. From 2002 to 2011, he was a Research Assistant at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, where he studied on speech and image processing. Currently, he is a full Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. His research interests include biomedical systems, pattern recognition, and signal processing.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fidan

Dr. Mehmet Fidan received the B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2004. He completed his master’s and doctorate studies at Anadolu University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in 2006 and 2015 respectively. He works as an assistant professor in Eskişehir Technical University, Vocational School of Transporatation, Rail Systems Electric-Electronics Program. His current interests include image processing, pattern analysis, neural networks, and statistical signal processing. Dr. Fidan is a member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

Prof. Dr. Cüneyt Çalışır

Dr. Cüneyt Calisir is a professor in the Manisa Celal Bayar University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiology. Dr Calisir earned M.D degree at the Ege University, Faculty of Medicine in 1998. He completed residency training at Eskisehir Osmangazi University in 2004. Dr Calisir worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the department of radiology and radiological sciences at the John’s Hopkins university for 1 year between 2008-2009. He specializes in diagnostic musculoskeletal radiology and breast imaging. In addition to diagnostic musculoskeletal radiology and spine applications, Dr Calisir interprets specialized examinations in the areas of tumor imaging, sports medicine, and rheumatology. His primary area of research focuses on novel imaging techniques for musculoskeletal disorders.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sema Candemir

Dr. Sema Candemir is an Assistant Professor at Eskisehir Technical University with a research interest in medical image and video analysis. Her research primarily revolves around the development of novel techniques for detecting regions of interest, leveraging deep convolutional neural networks, and integrating various imaging modalities with non-imaging clinical data. Before joining ESTU, she held a research scientist position at the Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, she worked as a research scientist and postdoctoral researcher at the U.S. National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health from 2013 to 2018.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Koç

Dr. Mehmet Koc received his two BSc degrees from Mathematics and Electrical-Electronics Engineering Departments in 2003, 2004, MSc degree from Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department at Eskisehir Osmangazi University in 2006, and PdD degree from Anadolu University in 2012 respectively. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Department of Computer Science at Eskisehir Technical University. His research interests include pattern recognition and machine learning.

PhD. Candidate Mohamad Ashames

Mohamad Ashames, with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical-Electronics Engineering from Selcuk University (2018) and a Master’s from Konya Technical University (2020), is pursuing his Ph.D. at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. His research is centered on pattern recognition and machine learning. His work includes improving a non-invasive tissue transplant monitoring method using thermal imaging and ML techniques and applying DL methods for osteoporosis classification and cancerous nodule detection.

Prof. Dr. Ömer N. Gerek

Prof. Omer Nezih Gerek received the Ph.D. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1998. During his Ph.D., he spent a semester at the University of Minnesota as a Researcher. From 1998 to 1999, he was a Technical Researcher with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland. He is currently a Full Professor with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Eskisehir Technical University, Eskisehir, Turkey. He has served in the editorial board of several journals, and is currently an area editor in Digital Signal Processing. His research interests include signal and image processing, and analysis.

Prof. Dr. M. Bilginer Gülmezöğlu

Prof. M. Bilginer Gülmezoğlu received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey in 1983 and 1985, respectively, and Ph.D.degree from Anadolu University, Eskişehir, Turkey in 1992. From 1983 to 1986, he was a Research Assistant at Anadolu University, where he worked on electric machinery and power electronics. Currently, he is a Professor with the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Eskişehir. His current interests include speech production and analysis, speech and speaker recognition, and signal processing.

Prof. Dr. Rıfat Edizkan

Prof. Rifat Edizkan received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Anadolu University (1990) and Eskisehir Osmangazi University (1999) respectively. He is currently Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Eskisehir Osmangazi University. He has been working there since 1993. His research interests include speech and image signal processing, pattern recognition, and embedded systems.

Res. Asst. Ahmet Demir

Ahmet Demir received his B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Eskisehir, Turkey in 2018, M.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Eskisehir, Turkey in 2021. Currently, he is a Research Assistant in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Eskisehir Osmangazi University. His research interests include Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition and Image Processing, Neural Networks, Programming Languages, Biomedical Image Processing.

Asst. Prof. Dr. İdil Işıklı Esener

Dr. İdil Isikli Esener received her BSc degree from Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2010, MSc degree from Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University in 2012, and PhD degree from Electrical-Electronics Engineering Department at Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2017,respectively. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor Doctor in Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University. Her research interests include pattern recognition and machine learning.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sezgin Seçil

Dr. Sezgin Secil received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University in 2012, 2015, and 2021, respectively. From 2012 to 2025, he was a Research Assistant at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, where he studied on robotics and computer vision. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. His research interests include human-robot interaction, field robotics, and machine learning.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülin Elibol Seçil

Dr. Gulin Elibol Secil earned a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University in 2012, 2015, and 2021, respectively. From 2012 to 2025, she served as a Research Assistant at the same university, with a focus on robotics and nonlinear control systems. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University. Her research interests include nonlinear control, robotics, and neural networks, with an emphasis on both theoretical development and practical applications.
